Information for Parents
SCHOOL HOURS: School hours for Tallulah Elementary students are 7:15 AM - 3:00 PM. Students may not be dropped off before 7:15 AM. The tardy bell rings at 8:00 AM. Students who are not in their classroom by the time the tardy bell rings will receive a tardy. If your child arrives after 8:00 AM, a parent must bring the student in and sign him/her in at the front office. Breakfast is served from 7:10 – 8:50 AM.
DRESS CODE: All students must be sure to adhere to the MPSD dress code. TES students MUST wear light yellow or hunter green tops and khaki or navy bottoms. Any students out of uniform will have to contact a parent to bring the correct clothing items immediately.
TRANSPORTATION: Parents, please note that early dismissals will not be allowed after 2:45 PM. This is the time that we begin preparing for dismissal and to ensure a smooth process, parents will not be allowed to congregate in the foyer area. Any dismissals prior to this time will be counted against a student’s attendance. Dismissal of bus students will begin at 3:00 PM.
CAR RIDERS: Car riders’ dismissal is at 3:05 PM or after buses have cleared the school campus. Car pickups should enter the campus from Johnson Street and proceed to the loop in front of the school. A staff member will call for your child upon your arrival. Parking and letting students walk through steady moving traffic is a serious safety hazard; therefore, all parents are asked to refrain from this practice. Parents are asked to remain in their cars and drop off and pick up students at the front door. This will eliminate the need for parking and allow for a smooth entrance to and dismissal from school. All students must be picked up no later than 3:30 PM.
This helps us to control the flow of traffic in the foyer and ensure that we know how each student has been dismissed from school. Please cooperate and help us in this effort.
BUS RIDERS: Bus riders are expected to follow the guidelines of the bus policy. Students can only ride the bus assigned to their place of residency. Changes in the mode of transportation must be in writing, signed and dated by the parents.
PARENT COMMUNICATION: It is our goal to maintain effective communication with our parents. This will be done through grade level newsletters, communication folders, planners, TES Facebook page, notes home to parents, PTO, parent conferences, etc. Please take time to review them, as well as the information that is sent home by the teacher. These communications will help to keep you abreast of what is happening in and around our school and in our classrooms. If you have questions, concerns, comments and/or suggestions, please do not hesitate to contact the school.
